The usual suspects turned out for the open day in Govan on Sunday 4/11. Quite a bit of organisation had obviously went into, what was essentially, a day for the kids. The gymnasium was decked out with the usual paraphernalia, bouncy castle, face painting, stalls for all sorts and interests plus the ubiquitous kiddies clown who turned up to engage the wee ones and limit their energy levels down to that resembling a small riot. There were face painted nuns eating burgers in buns while all manner of high jinx ensued that went down a storm with the young, the old and the simple souls that walk amongst us. Oh how we laughed! We RV’d in the bar and swung a few lamps, righting a few wrongs in the process and for a few short, giddy moments the world was looking good! Pony Moore was heading up Hunter Troop and after being overwhelmed to a tizzy with the tumult of activity we headed home to regale all and sundry with tales of our derring-do. Oh how they laughed! When the laughing had stopped another day’s fund raising had come to a successful conclusion and when future generations ask ” What did you do during the war daddy?”. We can say with a certain, calm confidence………………………………………….”We laughed!”.WW.
